Liturgy of the Day...
Jesus and the prophets teach us how to be generous. A woman in the small village of Shunem regularly invites the prophet Elisha to dine at her home when he passes through town. Eventually, she and her husband arrange a room for him to stay in overnight. Elisha responds to her generosity by promising that she will bear her first son within a year. Jesus tells the apostles that anyone who give just a cup of cold water to a disciple will be rewarded. Even small acts of human generosity reflect the divine generosity of God. May we all be generous in ways great and small.
